LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR OR CULTURAL ZENITH? YOU BE THE JUDGE: The inescapability of the MJ Death Parade coverage on TV makes me think we’re getting what we deserve and that thought is scaring the crap outta me.  The cable nets have all had a spike in ratings with the MJ coverage which is both disappointing and gross.  I understand that Jackson was a pop icon but unfortunately, the unseemly stories and sadness of his life overshadow that.  I’m sure I’ll see some part of tomorrow’s memorial service because I’ll be near a TV and I’ll even admit to being curious to see which performers show up for it. As you probably know, there will be wall-to-wall TV coverage of the memorial service tomorrow morning: all broadcast networks and cable news networks and I’m sure many other nets like BET, MTV and VH1 will also air it.  MySpace will stream the entire program live.  Here’s a complete rundown of sites streaming the service:http://mashable.com/2009/07/06/watch-michael-jackson-memorial/
