THE SURF REPORT: Sunday is all about TV: LEVERAGE returns, TUDORS finale, TREME season closer & more

Brief SURF today: all the great TV is on Sunday night this weekend.
For the sports fans: don’t miss JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE tonight: Lakers! World Cup play continues and NBC has U.S. Open golf.
For the music fans: check out CMT’s CROSSROADS tonight with John Mayer and Keith Urban.
Good news for sports and comedy fans: Seth Meyers is hosting the ESPY Awards — those will air live July 14 on ESPN.

JIMMY KIMMEL AND THE LAKERS TONIGHT: Tune in to JIMMY KIMMEL tonight: Jimmy will host the entire Laker team tonight to celebrate the team’s back to back victories! LA will be buzzing with the victory parade Monday too.

LEVERAGE: One of my very favorite TNT shows returns Sunday night with a big two-hour premiere. Things I love about LEVERAGE: Tim Hutton’s character of Nate got sober for awhile and decided he worked better when he was a little drunk so by the end of the season, he was a little drunk a lot of the time. Christian Kane has become one of my favorite tough guys because he’s also good at the light comedy of the show. I’m a big fan of Gina Bellman and I think some of her funny has rubbed off on Beth Riesgraf because she’s miles funnier and sharper than she was when the show began. LEVERAGE kicks off a new season at 9pm Sunday night on TNT.

ABC SUMMER PREMIERES: SCOUNDRELS and THE GATES premiere Sunday night and basically it’s ABC keeping the DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES suburban vibe alive. SCOUNDRELS has a family of small-time crooks moving into a suburban community. THE GATES has a family of vampires moving into a suburban community. Are you sensing a pattern?

ALSO SUNDAY NIGHT: THE TUDORS and TREME series finales, new episodes of TRUE BLOOD and DROP DEAD DIVA and the premiere of THE REAL L WORD on Showtime which is exactly what the title says: a reality show about lesbians. I tried to watch the scripted L WORD but the writing and acting was sub-par (and that’s being nice) so I stopped watching after a couple episodes. I won’t be tuning in for this reality version.

GET WELL & STAY WELL WISHES: To Dean Winters, OZ and 30 ROCK actor who had a “return from the dead” experience and is now talking about it. Check out his story in the NY POST’s Page Six column:
