THE SURF REPORT: Brooks & Cavett on HBO tonight, McCartney 9/11 docu on Showtime Saturday, HBO finales & new BREAKING BAD Sunday

The tenth anniversary of 9/11/01 means almost round-the-clock news coverage and TV specials to remember the tragic day in our history. Some of the specials are listed below.

TRUE BLOOD: Will they kill off any characters the fans like in the season closer? Will Lafayette meet an unfortunate end now that Marnie has taken up residence in his body? I have no advance knowledge so I don’t know the answer. Maybe Debbie will bite the dust now that she’s no longer with Alcide. We know they can’t kill Bill, Sookie or Eric because that would cause a major fan stampede. Who do you think will bite it? (pun intended)

CURB: Look for Michael J. Fox guesting in this Sunday’s episode.

ENTOURAGE FINALE: Jeremy Piven tweeted today that you have to watch through the final credits to find out what happens to Ari. Duly noted. Let’s hope Doug Ellin doesn’t end the show with Eric and Sloane. Please oh please, anything but that.

WEB THERAPY: Courteney Cox guested in this week’s episode as a very successful psychic who used to be friends with Fiona. When she got Fiona on Tyra’s show, the results were far less than Fiona expected. Showtime repeats the episodes so be on the lookout for it because there are always unexpected laughs in the episodes and the cards before each segment usually make me laugh a lot too.

TODAY’S SURF WRITTEN WHILE LISTENING TO: Bruce Springsteen’s “The Rising” - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQmpr6DHknQ&feature=related

I’ll be catching up with the SUITS season finale this weekend as I was out and about last night so I didn’t see the entire hour. I lost track of NECESSARY ROUGHNESS somewhere along the way but I’ll try to watch the season finale next week because I like Marc Blucas and Scott Cohen a lot in the show.

McCartney made this film with legendary documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles. McCartney’s plane was grounded on 9/11/01 and he later helped put together the Concert for New York City. This film documents all of it. The clips I saw at Showtime’s TCA session looked great and I love how McCartney talked about the healing power of music. I’m eager to see the entire film.
